Celluloid Nitrate Strat Pickguards

 
Putting to rest the myths of the nitrate pickguards used on Fender Stratocasters 1959 - 1965.

The Volume knob left its trail. Again the color difference between exposed and covered area is apparent. Next shot demonstrates again the black is not bleeding. How that myth got going is a mystery since you don't even have to cut into the guard .. its pretty evident.

Celluloid is easy to distinguish. This is a shot of a pickup route from the "under" side. The rough edge texture and "debris" is often seen on old guards. Its the way Celluloid cuts. This can vary depending on sharpness of tools. Note the yellow "donut" stain. Mmmmm donut
